In recent years, Bradbury was still prolific despite the aftereffects of a stroke, according to the AP, “turning out new novels, plays, screenplays and a volume of poetry.” He reportedly wrote daily in the basement office of his home in L.A.’s Cheviot Hills neighborhood, and was a frequent presence at literary events around the city.
I haven’t read a ton of Ray Bradbury’s stuff. I’ve read enough to remember that it was good and wasn’t my style in high school. My style has changed a bit since high school and definitely widened (when it comes to SciFi themes especially) so I should probably give him another chance.
Either way, his story is very impressive to me. If I’m still writing and interacting with the public EVERY DAY after a stroke, it’ll be a miracle. I’m inspired. He was inspiring.
Rest in Peace to another great author.
